Since the age of four, Lexiann’s favorite things have been pens, paper and pets. As she grew older, she added laughter and adrenalin rushes, in the form of mountain biking and snow skiing, to this list.
Being the industrious gal that she is, Lexiann decided to earn her living doing the things that she enjoys most and made her career plans accordingly. Now Lexiann is one of the pet industry’s top writers, columnists and advisors, as well as a recognized author of humor and lifestyle articles.
In addition to writing, she has served as a canine educational liaison and still provides support to the many readers that request her assistance from the U.S, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and Scandinavia.. Additionally, she makes personal appearances to speak with owners about how they can develop and maintain a loving and enjoyable bond with their dog.
Lexiann began her full-time writing career as a newspaper columnist. Prior to that, she wrote, edited, designed, published and served as a consultant for technical and in-house publications as well as providing organizational and political press releases for more than 20 years.
In response to an overwhelming request by her readers, Lexiann eventually applied her skills to full-time pet and lifestyles columns, for which she has won multiple awards. She specializes in writing that makes people feel better about their pets — by educating them about ethical pet ownership and entertaining them with heartwarming stories.
Before she knew how to read or write, Lexiann had cats, dogs, fish, mice and horse as companions in her life. She has raised, trained and shown dogs for many years and works out of her home office where she spends much of her time observing the five dogs with whom she and her husband currently live.
Personally, Lexiann spends every free moment she can grab roaring down a mountain — either on a bike or a pair of skis. Never one to lead a dull life, she has penchant for finding excitement (or trouble depending on the perspective) and always has a story to write about her adventures.
Her writing has sometimes been described as the type of stories that Erma Bombeck, James Herriott and Dave Barry would have written if they had worked together.
Of course, Lexiann does have a serious side too...

Her educational background includes work in philosophy, sociology and history as well as canid studies. Less than 10% of her work requires any editorial corrections and Lexiann’s editors say that they reserve the difficult and unusual assignments for her because of her abilities.
What makes Lexiann such an exceptional writer? "Dedication, knowledge, research and skill are critical, but passion about my work is the spark that makes the difference," she was quoted in a newspaper article, "It is a privilege to know that the words I write are read and enjoyed by so many people. I am proud to have my work recognized professionally, but mostly I am proud to know that my words make a difference in the quality of the lives of people and pets."
